Oselou café - political coffee

Oselou means "politically engaged" in Yoruba, one of Nigeria's official languages.
To help newcomers become politically engaged, Yeobi organizes debates in English between them and policy makers of Montpellier .

The Oselou café is a space where newcomers and non native people to Montpellier are able to learn more about the political climate of the city and on a broader scale, the region and the country

In 2020, just before local elections were held in France, Yeobi organized the first ever debate in English between newcomers and candidates running for the Mairie of Montpellier and the turn out was beyond what we expected.

The language spoken at Oselou café is English (mostly) and French so that anyone could understand the debate.

Every Oselou café adresses a different issue. It can either be related to a current event (i.e. Covid-19, Elections etc…) or requested by the participants and Yeobi members.
